  • 1 dried red chilli
  • 10 fresh curry leaves
  • 2 - 3 fresh long green chillies, trimmed, cut into halves and deseeded, if preferred
  • 1 tsp ginger paste (see Tips)
  • 280 g water
  • 45 g mung dal (see Tips)
  • ½ tsp asafoetida (see Tips)
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 40 g lemon juice (approx. 1 lemon)
