Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 70 g Parmesan cheese, cut in pieces (2 cm)
  • 10 sprigs fresh parsley, leaves only
  • 40 g onion, quartered
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 600 g pork mince (see tip)
  • 20 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 - 3 pinches ground black pepper

Tomato Sauce and Meatballs

  • 80 g onion, quartered
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 200 g red peppers, cut in pieces (3 cm)
  • 30 g olive oil
  • 800 g tinned chopped tomatoes
  • 15 fresh basil leaves, torn in pieces
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 - 3 pinches ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper

Steaming Meatballs and Potato Purée

  • 800 g floury potatoes, peeled, cut in pieces (2-3 cm)
  • 200 g milk
  • 40 g unsalted butter, cut in pieces
  • ¼ - ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ - 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ - ½ tsp ground black pepper
